Eggs

Ethan has taken to waking up at 3:00am lately. Most mornings he will come in to get us up to play with him, but there are those few mornings when he chooses to entertain himself without the supervision of Mom or Dad. On one such morning when Dad and I came downstairs we found an egg resting comfortably on the arm of our chair. We both looked at it and laughed, grateful that the egg was still whole and uncracked. Dad decided that if Ethan wanted to carry around an egg, it had better be hard boiled, so he boiled the egg and gave it back to Ethan. Ethan held it in his hand for a moment, then looked at Dad and said, "It's warm" Dad agreed, and then Ethan promptly dropped it, then looking at the newly cracked egg asked, " Baby bird?". I don't know if he associated warm with ready to hatch, or why he thought the egg was now going to produce a baby bird, but it made us both laugh. As a result of our entertaining morning we now have a "fridge belt" to avoid futher hatchings.
